FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you may want to know about Priva6, electronic signatures and your data.
What is Priva6?
Priva6 is an online tool to draft, send and electronically sign legal documents such as DPAs, NDAs or BAAs. It keeps track of who signed which version, notifies past signers when a document changes, and produces a signed PDF with a tamper-evident audit trail.
Are signatures made with Priva6 legally binding?
Priva6 provides simple electronic signatures (SES), as defined by the eIDAS regulation in the European Union. A simple electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect or admissibility as evidence just because it is electronic, and it is suited to most business agreements such as DPAs, NDAs or commercial contracts. Some documents require an advanced or qualified signature, or a handwritten one: you are responsible for checking that the signature level suits each document.
Do my clients need an account to sign?
No. Your clients receive a secure link by email (or a link you share yourself), review the document, fill in the details you asked for and sign. Nothing to install, no account to create.
What happens when I update a document that was already signed?
You create a new revision, and Priva6 can notify every client who signed an earlier one. If only the annexes changed (for example your list of subprocessors), they review the update and can re-sign in one click. If the text changed, they receive a new signing request and see exactly what changed since the version they signed.
What is recorded when someone signs?
Priva6 records the signer’s name and email, the details you asked for, the signature itself, the date, the exact consent text they agreed to, their IP address, country and browser. This evidence is included in the audit trail sent to every party. Signers are told about it through the privacy notice linked next to the consent checkbox.
How do you prove a document was not modified?
The content each party signs is fingerprinted with SHA-256, and so is every annex. The signed PDF is only generated if these fingerprints still match. Every event is also written to an append-only, hash-chained audit log; the latest link of the chain is printed in the audit trail every party receives.
Can several people sign the same document?
Yes. A signing request can include up to 10 signers from the same company. The primary signer fills in the company details and initials, co-signers simply sign. You can add a co-signer while the request is still in progress.
Where is my data hosted?
Priva6’s database and files are hosted in the European Union (Ireland). Priva6 is operated by SASU PDFShift, a French company. The full list of service providers is published on our subprocessors page.
Is the AI giving legal advice to my clients?
No. The AI writes a short, plain-language explanation next to each section to help signers read the document. These explanations are clearly labelled as AI-generated, are not part of the document and are not legal advice.
Can I send documents from my own software?
Yes. Organisation admins create API keys in Priva6, and a single HTTP call sends a document for signature to a client, with your email settings and reminders.
Can I import documents signed outside Priva6?
Yes. You can attach a PDF signed elsewhere to a document and a client. The client then appears in the document’s history and will be notified of its next versions.
How do I get started?
Create your workspace with your company name, your name and your email. Each new workspace is reviewed by our team, then you receive a link to confirm your account and start drafting.
